On Monday, nearly 190 storm reports were recorded across the United States, as reported by the Storm Prediction Center. One of the most devastating incidents occurred in Barnsdall, Oklahoma, where a tornado touched down, resulting in at least one fatality and causing extensive damage.
The impact of the storms was felt far and wide, with over 100 reports of high wind gusts. Among these reports, a particularly noteworthy event was an 82 mph gust recorded in Chester, Oklahoma.
Large hail was also a significant feature of the severe weather, with more than 70 reports of sizable hailstones. The most striking of these reports came from Moonlight, Kansas, where hailstones as large as 4 inches in diameter were observed.
As the storms continue to wreak havoc, over 7 million individuals find themselves under tornado watches in various parts of the country. States such as Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, and Illinois remain on high alert as the severe weather persists.
