
Severe thunderstorms were expected to produce heavy rain and strong winds, with the potential for large hailstones, across the Hunter Monday evening.
Forecasters warned residents in parts of the Hunter, Central Coast and as far south as Sydney as the weather moved west across the state toward the coast.
The weather was expected to linger over the region into Monday evening.

The State Emergency Service advised people to move their cars under cover and away from trees, to remove loose items from their properties and to keep away from fallen power lines.
It also warned people not to walk, cycle or drive through flood waters and to keep children and pets indoors.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is current for the Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands and parts of the Mid North Coast, Southern Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains, Central West Slopes and Plains, Upper Western and Northern Tablelands districts.
