Severe flooding after torrential rain closes busy West Lothian road again as locals say it's 'not fit for purpose'

Severe flooding has closed a West Lothian road after the county has been battered with torrential rain.

The B7015 at Gavieside in West Calder has been closed due to flood water.

West Lothian Council said: "West Lothian Council Road Operations have closed the B7015 at Gavieside Farm due to severe flooding. We are currently trying to resolve this issue but it may take some time."

Locals said the road is always prone to flooding and action is needed.

John Campbell said: "The road is unfit for purpose and was never intended to carry the current (or future) volume of traffic.

"Sticking a plaster on it like West Lothian council keep doing is a complete waste of public cash."

Lorraine Darling added: "Been flooded for a few weeks so must be like a swimming pool now."
