Several wards at Salford Royal Hospital are without running water tonight

Several wards at Salford Royal Hospital are without a running water supply tonight.

Hospital bosses confirmed that there is a problem with water supply to the Ladywell Building this evening (Tuesday), affecting a number of patients staying on the wards.

Temporary measures are in place while the problem is resolved.

Bottled water is being used on site.

Engineers from United Utilities are on scene and are providing a temporary water supply.

The Ladywell Building - which houses a number of wards, the radiology unit and the ultrasound unit - is the only building currently affected at the hospital.

A spokesperson from the Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust said staff are 'working hard' to rectify the problem.

They hope the water supply to the building will resume later this evening.

The spokesperson added: "Our priority is ensuring our staff are supported to ensure there is no disruption to the care, treatment and experience of our patients and visitors at this time.

"Whilst we resolve the problem, temporary measures are in place, for example the use of bottled water and United Utilities are supporting us in the provision of a temporary water supply.

"Our staff are ensuring that infection control measures are still firmly in place.

"Our own Estates Team, along with external contractors, are working hard to fix the problem and we currently expect the water supply to the building to resume later on this evening.

"We are very sorry for any inconvenience this has caused our patients, visitors and staff and we thank them for their ongoing cooperation whilst we resolve the issue."
