Several Steelers suffer injuries late in loss to Patriots

The ugliest part of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 33-3 rout at the hands of the New England Patriots on Sunday night wasn’t the final score. It was the fact that multiple Steelers starters suffered injuries late in the game where there was really no point in having those guys on the field.

According to Missi Matthews of the team’s site, center Maurkice Pouncey, cornerback Joe Haden, linebacker T.J. Watt and wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster all left the game late with injuries.

As bad as injuries are, avoidable injuries are infinitely worse. Hopefully when head coach Mike Tomlin speaks to the media again on Tuesday, we will find out that none of these injuries are serious and nothing to worry about. Enough went wrong on Sunday night, the last thing Pittsburgh needs is a cluster of injuries that drag out through the season.
