SEVERAL sheep have died and dozens have been rescued by firefighters after becoming stranded in a flooded field.
Scottish Fire and Rescue crews were called to the flooded farmland at Carse of Lecropt Road in Bridge of Allan, Stirling, at around 9.43am on December 31.
Firefighters from two appliances managed to bring 57 sheep to safety, but three did not survive.
Fire crews rescued the animals using specialist equipment, helping to prevent members of the public placing themselves at risk by trying to carry out their own rescue.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 9.43am on Tuesday, December 31, to reports of sheep stranded in a flooded field at Carse of Lecropt Road, Bridge of Allan.
“Operations Control mobilised two appliances and specialist resources to the scene where firefighters worked to bring 57 sheep to safety.
“Unfortunately, three sheep did not survive.
“Crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
