Four people have been taken to hospital after they were injured as their train smashed into the buffers at London’s King’s Cross station.
The 10.55am Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) service from Cambridge hit the buffers on platform 11 when it arrived at its destination just after midday.
A London ambulance service spokesman said: “We were called at 12.28pm to an incident involving a train at King’s Cross station. We sent two ambulance crews, an incident officer and an advanced paramedic to the scene and arrived within eight minutes.
“We treated five patients at the scene for minor injuries. We took four patients to University College hospital.”
Network Rail said the train was involved in a “low-speed collision with the buffer stops” at 12.18pm.
The platform has been closed for preliminary investigations and the Rail Accident Investigation Branch has been informed.
Keith Jipps, GTR’s Great Northern passenger service director, said: “We are working with paramedics to help those who were injured and apologise to those affected by the incident. We will cooperate fully with any investigation.”
Two Great Northern rail services were cancelled as a result of the crash, and two more will run with fewer carriages than normal on Thursday evening.
