Several new jobs for Dublin city as McDonald's restaurant gets a digital makeover

A Dublin fast food restaurant has gotten a digital makeover - and created 13 jobs in the process.

McDonald’s on Mary Street used the cash injection of €650,000 to revamp itself, adding table service, an indoor kids digital play table and touchscreen kiosks.

The city centre restaurant is operated by franchisee Sean Quirke and the latest refurbishment will see employment at the restaurant go up to 58 people.

Speaking about the restaurant reopening, Sean said: “I am very proud of the changes we have made to our Mary Street restaurant. 

“It is important to us to offer the best family-friendly facilities and services.

"With our new self-order kiosks, customers can make more personalised food choices. 

“And we will continue to ensure that we serve made-to-order meals using the best quality ingredients, in the most efficient time possible.

“McDonald’s Mary Street will operate from 7am to 10pm, 7 days a week and offers McDelivery.”

This comes after McDonald's reopened its flagship restaurant on Grafton Street at the start of March.

A newly adjusted layout means an increased capacity from 285 to 305 seats and the improved city centre building will result in 30 new jobs.

The Grafton Street restaurant, which opened in 1977, will provide customers with an even more family-friendly experience.

Speaking about the restaurant reopening, franchisee Amir Afsar - who operates 10 other McDonald’s restaurants in Dublin and Wicklow - said: "I am very proud of the major changes we have made to our Grafton Street restaurant."

He continued: "As the busiest McDonald’s restaurant in Ireland it is important that our customers can access the best family-friendly facilities and services on offer.

"The new self-order kiosks allow customers to make more personalised food choices, which we know is what customers are looking for. 

"We are particularly excited about some of the behind the scenes changes taking place in the kitchen, which will ensure that we continue to serve made-to-order meals using the best quality ingredients, in the most efficient time possible."

The revamped outlet will feature a host of new digital facilities including table service, an indoor kids digital play table with Samsung Galaxy tablets, and touch screen self-order kiosks, which will deliver a more customised and efficient service for customers.

McDonald’s Grafton Street will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
