Several injured in shooting at New York subway station

A shooting took place on a subway platform in Brooklyn, New York City on Tuesday morning (April 12) with authorities reporting injuries.

According to reports, 13 people were injured in the incident while "several undetonated devices" were uncovered by police. It was later added that none of these were "active explosive devices". New York City Fire Department personnel responded to reports of smoke at the 36th Street station in Sunset Park where they discovered multiple people shot and the undetonated devices.

The city's police department are now asking witnesses to come forward with information and have warned the public to keep away from the area. A man was spotted throwing a device in the Brooklyn subway station. He then proceeded to then open fire, according to law enforcement.

According to a preliminary report, police noted that a male perpetrator could have been wearing a gas mask and construction gear. No motive for the attack has yet been announced by investigators.
