Several Georgia Bulldogs among XFL’s draft pool

The XFL Draft is set to take place soon. There will be a pair of Georgia Bulldogs in the draft and likely more. The XFL Draft has five groups, so there will be about four hundred more players eligible for the league in the final two groups.

There were no Georgia Bulldogs in the first two groups of the XFL Draft. Group three was a different story with both Trenton Thompson and Jay Rome:

Trenton Thompson was a five-star recruit coming out of high school and played well in his three years at Georgia. He went undrafted after turning pro. After the Cleveland Browns waived Thompson he has played on the defensive line for the Alliance of American Football, signed with the Arena Football League’s Washington Valor, and most recently signed with the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League.

Former UGA tight end Jay Rome battled injuries during his time in Athens en route to catching 38 passes for 398 yards and three touchdowns in his four year career. Rome is immensely talented and had a brief stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers after going undrafted.
