Several Dublin stars set to miss opening Leinster Senior Hurling Championship game with Kilkenny

Cian O'Callaghan, Fintan McGibb, and John Hetherton will all be missing from Dublin's opening Leinster SHC game this weekend against Kilkenny.

Dublin manager Mattie Kenny revealed he has a raft of injury concerns before the provincial championship throw-in this weekend, with a few players, including Conal Keaney, Mark Schutte, and Liam Rushe, only having just rejoined training this week.

Rushe is recovering from a hand injury but is the most likely to be fit for Saturday.

"This hand injury is a concern to him and to us," Kenny admitted to GAA.ie.

"But Liam is a hardened campaigner. I’m sure we’ll do whatever we can to make sure that he’s available for us."

Donal Burke will also be missing due to exams, and the talented Na Fianna forward may be bringing those talents away this summer.

"Donal is doing his final exams at the moment, so he’s caught up in exams," Kenny said.

"And he indicated at the start of the year that, after his final exams, he may look at going travelling.

"At the moment he’s concentrating on finishing his final exams, these couple of weeks."

Jim Gavin says semi-professionalism in the GAA would not be sustainable
