NFL Free Agency is just around the corner. There are seven former Dawgs set to be NFL free agents when the new league year begins on March 13th at 4:00 PM. Free agents and teams can begin negotiating two days before then. Perhaps more former Dawgs will become free agents, if another is cut by their current team for salary cap purposes. The NFL is a business after all, and it is one that is open and in the news 24/7/365. During the off-season football stops, but the roster rebuilding process sets the tone for the next season.
One notable candidate that may be added to this list is Kansas City Chiefs OLB Justin Houston, who the Chiefs are trying to trade.
Here are the former Georgia Bulldogs set to become NFL Free Agents:
WR Chris Conley, KC
TE Orson Charles, CLE
TE Ben Watson, NO
DT John Jenkins, NYG
OLB Thomas Davis, CAR
ILB Ramik Wilson, LAR
S Corey Moore, IND
The Carolina Panthers informed Thomas Davis, the most accomplished FA of this list, that they wouldn’t resign him. Additionally, Ben Watson announced he would retire in late 2018, but losing to the Rams in the NFC Championship Game is a tough way to go, so he may spend the off-season as a FA mulling over his decision.
Chris Conley and Ramik Wilson should command the most money of the former Bulldogs who will all be looking to find a new team and get paid. Expect for Corey Moore, John Jenkins, and Orson Charles to each seek a team where they can find the most opportunities for playing time.
