'Several animals injured' after cattle truck crashes on Erskine Bridge

A driver has been charged after a crash with a cattle truck caused a road to be shut for over 12 hours.

The truck was carrying livestock when it crashed on the A82 westbound on-slip at the Erskine Bridge on Sunday afternoon prompting an emergency response to the scene.

Officers closed the area to carry out investigations and it was reopened on Monday.

Reports on social media claim that several animals were injured in the incident, but the force has remained tight-lipped on this.

They did reveal that a 30-year-old man has been charged in connection with an alleged road traffic offence.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 30-year-old man was charged in connection with a road traffic offence.

"A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
