Seventh person charged over alleged car crash conspiracy involving Salim Mehajer

Police say Salim Mehajer planned a car accident to occur as he travelled to court.

A seventh person has been charged over an alleged conspiracy to stage a car crash involving former Auburn deputy mayor Salim Mehajer in Sydney last year.

Mr Mehajer remains behind bars after he was refused bail three weeks ago.

Police say Mr Mehajer orchestrated the collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of Nicholas and Delhi Streets at Lidcome in October, to occur as he travelled to court to face assault charges.

The seventh person, a 27-year-old man, was arrested at a home at Greystanes on February 9.

He has been charged with conspiracy to cheat and defraud and granted strict conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today.

Investigators say Mr Mehajer planned the crash so he could avoid his scheduled court appearance that day.

He is charged with perverting the course of justice and conspiracy to defraud.

Four of Mr Mehajer's co-accused appeared in court two weeks ago.
