Coronavirus infection numbers in Sefton have fallen by more than a quarter in the past two weeks.
The borough’s infection rate has fallen to 46 new cases per 100,000 people in the week ending March 22.
This is the lowest rate in the borough since September 8.
Most other boroughs in the Liverpool City Region has also seen a decline in cases this week.
Halton has Merseyside’s highest rate – 65 per 100,000 – a jump from 60 in the previous week.
Knowsley also saw its infection rate rise, from 43 to 48 cases per 100,000 people.
Wirral has the Liverpool City Region’s lowest infection rate, at 29 per 100,000, while Liverpool’s is 38.

For government data collection purposes, Sefton is divided into 38 neighbourhoods.
The area known as Litherland South is currently Sefton’s worst impacted neighbourhood.
As of March 21 its infection rate stands at 182 per 100,000 people.
Its number of positive cases jumped from three to twelve – a 300% increase, albeit from a low base.
Southport High Park is the only other neighbourhood with a rate of above 100 (103), though this is 34% down on the previous week.
Seventeen neighbourhoods are noted as currently having “suppressed” the virus – this means there were just two or fewer confirmed cases.
This is up from twelve neighbourhoods in the previous week.
Data is not shown for areas with fewer than 3 cases to protect individuals’ identities.
These neighbourhoods are: Crossens, Marshside, Hesketh Park, Meols Cop, Hillside, Formby West and Freshfield North, Formby Central and Freshfield South, Formby South East and Ince Blundell, Maghull North West and Lydiate, Maghull North East, Maghull South East, Maghull South West, Netherton North, Blundellsands, Seaforth North, Bootle North, and Bootle South.
