A property developer has acquired two NHS sites in the West Midlands to build new houses in a pair of developments worth £30 million.
Birmingham-based SevenHomes has bought the plots in Northfield, south Birmingham, and Redditch where it will construct 130 units.
In Northfield, the 2.4-acre brownfield former Ross House medical facility, off Sheldon Road, will be regenerated to contain 30 terraced, detached and townhouses ranging from two to four bedrooms.
In Redditch, part of the former Alexandra Hospital site covering 5.85 acres will have 100 new units, comprising one-bedroom apartments and terraced and detached houses ranging from two to four bedrooms.
The projects will be called The Crescent and Wire Croft respectively and work has now started on outlining planning applications for them both.
Jonathan Richards, development director at SevenHomes, said: "Both of these sites being acquired from the respective NHS trusts means vital funds will be ploughed straight back into local important health services while allowing each area to be given a new lease of life and provide much-needed, quality new homes for first-time buyers and families.
"Due to their nature and locations being highly sustainable and brownfield, each will allow us once again to regenerate and placemake derelict and underused urban sites into attractive places to live."
