Seven year old girl killed as car crashes into house in Cornwall

A seven-year-old girl has been killed after a car collided with a house in Cornwall, police have said.

The girl is thought to have been a pedestrian and suffered life-threatening injuries when she was struck by the vehicle.

She was declared dead at the scene in Looe and the crash is believed to have been weather related.

Devon and Cornwall Police were called to reports of a Nissan car colliding with a house at about 2.30pm.

A force spokesman said: "Her next of kin has been informed. Localised closures are in place as emergency services attend this incident."

Looe is currently covered by an amber weather warning which is set to stay in place until 8am on 2 March.

Chief Inspector Adrian Leisk, who is the head of roads policing across Devon, Cornwall and Dorset took to Twitter urged drivers to be careful in the current treacherous snowy conditions.

"Please do not add to the challenges we are facing if you are considering using your vehicle anywhere in Devon or Cornwall," he tweeted.

"Most minor roads are now impassable and you will not get far. If we have to rescue you, this may put another’s life in danger. Please think!"
