Seven-year-old boy rushed to hospital after being hit by car in Airdrie

A seven-year-old boy has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car in Airdrie.

Police were called to the scene on Gartleahill at around 5.30pm this evening.

The boy was subsequently taken to Glasgow's Royal Hospital for Children by ambulance.

The road remains closed as police launch their investigation into the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told Glasgow Live: "We received a report of a crash involving a car and a child on Gartleahill, Airdrie, around 5.30pm on Tuesday, 13 October, 2020.

"A seven-year-old boy has been taken to the Royal Hospital for Children by ambulance.

"The road is currently closed whilst enquiries are carried out."
