Seven things we'll be allowed to do in April again after Taoiseach's lockdown announcement

On a sunny day across Ireland, Taoiseach Micheal Martin gave the country a small ray of hope for the summer months.

While it will be gradual, a number of lockdown changes have been confirmed for the month of April, and all going well, things will be eased further in May, June and so on.

Mr Martin warned that the public must remain vigilant in the coming weeks and months, but added that he wanted to spread some optimism for the future.

Several key restrictions have been lifted or altered, including the 5km travel limit, which will be made county-wide from April 12.

Outdoor gatherings will also be permitted with one other household, with some other eased measures being brought in for those already fully vaccinated.

But there was more bad news for pubs, restaurants, hairdressers and non-essential retail, all of which will be shut until at least May.

Below, the Irish Mirror takes a look at seven things you can do in the month of April:

New travel limit

People will now be able to freely travel within their home county from April 12, as opposed to within just 5km of their own home.

Outside gatherings

The public will now be permitted to meet up with one other household in an outdoor setting from X?.

This of course is provided that social distancing is maintained.

Household visits

Those who are fully vaccinated will be allowed to meet up with another fully vaccinated person in an indoor setting.

However, you must wait at least two weeks after receiving your second jab to do so.

Outdoor sports

In a major boost for the public, golf and tennis will be allowed to return from April 26.

Cultural attractions

Outdoor cultural attractions, such as zoos, will reopen from April 26.

Children's training

Outdoor training for kids will be back in business in line with the return of golf and cultural attractions.

Inter-county training

While this won't affect most people, inter-county GAA training can resume from April 19.
