Seven sets of twins welcomed to start at school in Cork - for the second year in a row

Seven sets of twins were welcomed into a first year class today - for the second year in a row.

The students starting at Glanmire Community College in Co Cork have joined the 27 sets of twins and one set of triplets already studying at the school.

The incoming twins are from five different schools in the county, Cork Beo reports.

Twins Jack and Callum O’Connor, Peter and Sean O’Brien, Adam and Sarah Hayes, Japheth and Joanna Kolawole, Ethan and Heather Bowman, Zach and Howard O’Connor and Oliwia Przychodzka and Oskar Przychodzki attended today.

Principal Ronan McCarthy said: “It is with great pleasure that we welcome our new incoming first-year students to Glanmire Community College.

"On this defining day for our students and their families, I know you will join me in wishing them well as they begin their journey of learning in GCC.

“In particular, and for the second year in succession, we welcome seven sets of twins into our first-year group, which is a one in 300 generations occurrence.

“Though there is much that they may share, we look forward to developing their many talents and meeting their unique and individual needs."

Among the group are Zach and Howard O’Connor, who came from Gaelscoil Uí Drisceoil and love nothing more than a kick about and going for a run.

Two sets of twins from Riverstown NS are also starting at the school, including the O’Brien brothers Peter and Sean, who are sports mad.

Adam and Sarah Hayes come from Upper Glanmire NS. Adam’s specialities include computer gaming and cycling, and Sarah’s baking and reading.

Watergrasshill NS also have some alumni starting their secondary school journey as the Bowmans join the class.
