Seven royals who will step up to support Queen and 'fill space' left by Prince Philip

The Queen says Prince Philip's death has left a "huge void" in her life, but her loving family will support her with her "undiminished" sense of duty, insiders have claimed.

After 73 years of marriage, the Monarch is now without the Duke of Edinburgh, who she's described as her "strength and stay".

The couple's four children - Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward - are doing everything they can to comfort their mum while also coming to terms with their own grief.

And her grandchildren, including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Princess Eugenie, who lives nearby, are also there to support the 94-year-old monarch.

But professionally, The Firm are also looking ahead to royal duties, and seven members of the family will step up to "fill some of the space [Prince Philip] has left before."

They are Prince Charles, Camilla, Princess Anne, Kate and William and Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex.

Speaking to MailOnline, a source said: "The Duke of Edinburgh is irreplaceable and the Queen's dedication to duty is undiminished, but senior officials and members of the family have long had an eye on ensuring she is more supported in the future and it seems sensible to start employing this now."

Another added: "If one parent dies the children – and in this case, grandchildren – all step up and fill in in different ways.

"No single individual could ever take place of the Duke of Edinburgh, but just maybe all of them coming together will fill some of the space he has left behind."

As the heirs to the throne, Prince Charles and Prince William are used to royal life and have supported the Monarch for years already.

Kate is said to have a good relationship with the Queen, reportedly getting the right mix of treating her as Monarch but also as the great-grandmother to her children. She reportedly has a direct line to her which she uses to give updates on Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Sophie Wessex is a close friend of the Queen and the two women reportedly watch old films together.

The Queen reportedly trusts her daughter-in-law's opinion and values her views as she understands what life is like outside of The Firm.
