Seven occupants of a house were rescued and taken to safety after an electric heater caught fire in their north Dublin home.

Firefighters from Blanchardstown and Phibsborough raced to battle the blaze this afternoon.

Luckily the brave firefighters were able to safely shepherd the occupants to safety using thermal imaging.

Dublin Fire Brigade shared pictures from the scene on social media, showing the charred remains of the heater.

They said: "Firefighters from Blanchardstown and Phibsborough have extinguished a house fire after an electric heater caught alight. 7 people taken to safety, thermal imaging and a fan was used to ventilate the building."
