Seven puppies dead after being ruthlessly dumped 'like rubbish' in plastic bag

Seven puppies have tragically died after they were discovered stuffed in bin bags ‘like rubbish ’.

Eight puppies, including spaniels, and Shih Tzu crossbreeds, were found in two separate bin bags in Runcorn, Cheshire by a passerby on February 17.

In one of the bags, four of the Spaniel puppies were already dead, but it is unclear if they had suffocated inside, or already died before being put in the bag, The Liverpool Echo reported .

Ark Angels rescue centre in Bradley, on the Wrexham, took in the four surviving six-week-old puppies, three Shih Tzu and a Spaniel, who were named Rose, Candy, Cupid and Teddy.

All four of the puppies tested positive for the deadly parvovirus, which can cause severe vomiting and diarrhoea.

Kelly Roberts, founder of Ark Angels rescue centre, said the puppies were dumped "like a bag of rubbish".

She said: "It's sad, very sad.

"This is maybe the worst case in the last couple of years in my experience."

Despite intensive, round the clock care from Ark Angels and vets, three of the puppies - Rose, Candy and Cupid died.

Only Teddy survived and Kelly said he is in "very, very critical" condition, and the chances of him beating parvovirus at such a young age is "very low."

Only Teddy survives but has parvovirus and as he is so young his chances of survival is "very low" (Ark Angels)

She added: "Ted is still very, very critical and really poorly. We won't really know until the weekend.

"Hopefully he starts to eat himself, because at the moment he is being tube fed.

"Losing the last three over the weekend, his little friend, brothers and sisters has been traumatic for him.

"So it's trying to find out what is fear after being tossed away in a binbag and what is him losing his little brothers and sisters, with being extremely poorly as well which has had a huge impact on him."

Ark Angels is fundraising for Teddy's treatment and donations can be made here .

The incident has not been reported to Cheshire police, but a spokesperson for the force said they would urge anyone with information to contact them via www.cheshire.police.uk.

The incident has not been reported to the RSPCA but a spokesperson said: "This sounds like a terribly distressing incident and anyone with information about this should contact us on 0300 123 8018."
