Seven people rushed to hospital after horror crash in Co Meath as gardai shut road

Seven people have been brought to hospital after a two-car crash in Co Meath on Sunday evening.

Gardai were called to the collision on the N52 at Cassidy’s Cross, Carlanstown with ambulances and the fire brigade also in attendance.

Occupants of one car, two men and two women, aged in their 70s and 80s, were all brought to Our Lady Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

A man and woman, both in their 40s, and a child were also taken to hospital for their injuries.

None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.

Gardai closed the road for a time but it has since reopened to traffic.

It has been a Christmas of carnage on Irish roads with multiple deaths and even more injuries countrywide.
