Seven people end up in hospital following two-car crash in Carlanstown, Co Meath

Seven people were taken to hospital following a crash involving two cars in Co Meath on Sunday night.

Gardai were alerted and raced to the scene of the collision on the N52 at Cassidy’s Cross, Carlanstown, with ambulances and the fire brigade also in attendance.

Two men and two women aged in their 70s and 80s, the occupants of one of the cars involved, were freed and taken by ambulance to Our Lady Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda. A man and woman, both in their 40s, and a child were also taken to hospital for their injuries.

It was reported that none of the injuries was believed to be life-threatening.

Gardai closed off the road while emergency services were in attendance but the way has since reopened to traffic.

The accident follows a Christmas period that has witnessed multiple deaths and even more injuries countrywide on Irish roads.
