The Ohio State football program has been an NFL football factory second to none over the years. It has produced the most total draft picks, and tied for the most first-rounders of any program since the year 2000.
It looks to add to that in 2020.
We’ve seen a lot of mock drafts through the first round — seemingly everyone loosely tied to the NFL draft has an opinion on that — but we haven’t seen too many taken as far out as three rounds. But CBS Sports’ Ryan Wilson is game and has put such a thing together.
Much like other mock projections, Wilson has two Ohio State players going very early in the first round. Those players are the same two you’ve likely seen on multiple draft boards circulating the internet, but we’ll tell you anyway.
We’ll take you through it all with the player taken, overall selection and team, and what Wilson writes about each former Buckeye.
Next … Round 1
First-rounders
Chase Young, DE, pick No. 2 to the Washington Redskins – Chase Young is the best player in this draft class and the Redskins have needs up and down the roster.
Jeff Okudah, CB, pick No. 3 to the Detroit Lions – The team traded Darius Slay and signed Desmond Trufant. Trading out of this pick would be ideal, but it’ll be hard to pass on Okudah here if they stay put.
Next … Round 2
Round 2
J.K. Dobbins, RB, pick No. 31 to the Los Angeles Chargers – The Chargers locked up Austin Ekeler long-term, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to load him up with 300-plus touches. Dobbins can help contribute to what could be one of the league’s best RB tandems.
Jonah Jackson, OL, pick No. 58 to the Minnesota Vikings – The Vikings are looking to beef up the offensive line, and they do it by picking up some guard help here.
Next … Round 3
Round 3
Malik Harrison, LB, pick No. 72 to the Arizona Cardinals – Haasan Reddick is entering the last year of his rookie deal, and Harrison is a middle-of-the-field thumper who could see playing time right away.
Damon Arnette, CB, pick No. 73 to the Jacksonville Jaguars – The Jaguars continue to replace departed talent on the defensive side with Arnette, who’s among a group of corners that could go anywhere from Round 1-3.
Davon Hamilton, DL, pick No. 83 to the Denver Broncos – The Broncos keep retooling the defensive front with Hamilton.
