Seven of the most annoying things you see in Irish supermarkets like Tesco and Aldi in the Covid era

The supermarket has been one of the most consistent features in people's lives during the pandemic when many other normal activities were lost.

Right through the year since March people have been adapting to the new supermarket experience on their weekly visits.

And now we have come to a stage where there are rules in place and everyone knows what is supposed to happen when shopping.

But that doesn't mean that everyone follows them - which can be of real annoyance to fellow shoppers and staff.

Here's seven of the most annoying things you see in supermarkets during the Covid era;

1. Wearing masks under noses

If you aren't exempt from mask wearing and have one on at least wear it properly.

Some people walk around with it hanging under their nose to make it look like they are complying but it's also essentially useless.

If you are doing it, do it properly.

2. People not standing in the two metre boxes

Floor markings clearly tell shoppers where they should stand to keep a safe distance but that doesn't stop some.

You could still find someone right behind you as they choose to completely ignore the clear signs.

3. Handling products and putting them back

This is a hard one to get used to as the shop experience was always about taking a look at things before you buy them.

But in the coronavirus era, handling a load of apples and putting back ones you don't like the feel of isn't recommended.

4. Brushing up on people in aisles

The social distance is not just for when you are waiting to pay - you should keep a distance all over the shop.

5. Giving out to staff

Staff are under more pressure than ever with new rules and regulations so they deserve a bit of patience and respect.

People giving out to staff for asking them to wear a mask or keep a safe distance is awful to see.

6. Pulling down the mask to speak to staff/other shoppers

Firing down the mask to lean in over the counter and ask a question is not what you're supposed to do and annoys many.

You are expected to speak through the mask.

7. Not using the sanitiser at the entrance

It's there for a reason - just pop it on, rub your hands and the supermarket is a safer place.
