LAKE Macquarie police say they were pleased with the results of a blitz on youth anti-social behaviour at Charlestown on Thursday night.
Officers were out in force in Mount Hutton, Glendale and the Charlestown shopping precinct in a bid to engage following a rise in youth crime within the district.
They spoke to hundreds during the operation, issuing seven move on directions.
One of the best things about local policing is getting out into the community and talking to people about their concerns and perceptions," Superintendent Danny Sullivan said.
Throughout the day and later on at Charlestown, we were approached by dozens of members of the public and they were very grateful for having a highly-visible and approachable pop-up station.
We will continue to conduct high-visibility operations whilst working closely with other agencies to keep an open and positive dialogue with Lake Macquarie youths."
