Seven more schools in Sunderland have partially closed this week due to coronavirus.
Barnes Junior School, Highfield Primary School, Kepier School, Mill Hill Nursery, New Penshaw, Oxclose Nursery and Rickleton Primary School are all partially closed due to Covid-19.
According to Together for Children, which delivers children's services on behalf of Sunderland City Council, the three schools were added to the closure list on Monday (October 12).
The schools affected are:
- Barnes Junior School- Partially closed to two Year 4 class, one Year 6 class and one SEND unit. Year 4 are scheduled to return to school on October 21 while the rest are due to go back on October 26
- Highfield Primary School- Partially closed to Year 4 who are scheduled to go back to school on October 26
- Kepier School- Partially closed to Year 10 who are due to return to school on November 2 after half-term
- Mill Hill Nursery- Partially closed to one 3/4-year-olds bubble who are due to return on October 22
- New Penshaw- Partially closed to Year 6, the school is awaiting for Public Health England advice as to when they can return
- Oxclose Nursery- Partially closed to two-year-olds who are due to go back on November 2
- Rickleton Primary School- Partially closed to Year 5, Year 3 and one Year 2 class who are scheduled to go back to school on October 26
The schools are the latest closures to be announced this week with 25 schools in Sunderland currently partially or fully closed.
So far 60 schools across the city have been affected by coronavirus after they reopened back in September.
In some cases, the closures only apply to certain year groups or class group, depending on where the reported coronavirus is found.
While some asked year groups or bubbles to isolate at home, others decided to close for a deep clean.
