Seven more people die in Merseyside area with coronavirus

The number people of people recorded to have died with coronavirus has nearly doubled since yesterday, as the death toll rose by seven.

Figures released on Thursday, June 18, indicated seven more people died with the virus, in comparison to yesterday where just four more people were recorded to have died.

Two of these deaths were recorded at Liverpool University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and two further deaths were recorded at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Yesterday there were no deaths recorded across any of Liverpool's NHS Trusts.

One futher death was registered in Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

And a further two were sadly recorded at the Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust.

The deaths have not necessarily occurred in the past 24 hours but have been officially recorded in this period.

The full numbers for each Trust covering our region are as follows:

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (Royal, Aintree, Broadgreen): 453 (+2)

Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust - 235 (+2)

Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust - 4

Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust - 4

Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - 129 (+1)

Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust - 18

Merseycare NHS Foundation Trust - 3

Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust - 145 (+2)

St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust - 2 04

The Walton Centre - 10

The total figure for the whole of the UK has not been released yet.

The North West, which has often been the worst affected in these updates, today reported 16 deaths, lower than the South East (22), and the Midlands (19) - but a higher than all other regions in England.
