There have been seven new coronavirus deaths registered on a better day for our region.
Yesterday's update of a further 23 fatalities was a body blow for a region that has already seen so much tragedy during this pandemic.
But today the numbers were lower.
Three of the new deaths in today's bulleting came at Liverpool's main University Trust, which covers the Royal, Aintree Hospital and Broadgreen.
The totals for all Liverpool Trusts are now as follows:
Liverpool University Hospitals Teaching Trust - 341
Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital Trust - 17
The Walton Centre NHS Trust - 6
Alder Hey Children's Hospital - 4 (all adults)
Mersey Care Mental Health NHS Trust - 3
Wirral's main NHS Trust recorded one further death today, to reach a total of 178.
The Southport and Ormskirk Trust total has gone up by two to 121, while the Trust covering St Helens and Knowsley has risen by one to 164.
The Halton and Warrington NHS Trust total also rose by one in today's update and now stands at 94.
National picture
A total of 25,678 patients have now died in hospitals across the UK.
Of these, 236 lost their lives in May while 131 died in April and 16 in March.
The Covid-19 deaths in hospital toll now stands at 22,432 in England.
A further 18 people have died in hospitals in Wales, where the Covid-19 death toll now stands at 1,062.
Earlier today, Nicola Sturgeon said 1,762 patients had now died in Scotland after testing positive for coronavirus, up by 59 from 1,703 on Wednesday.
