Fashion outlets including Elle, WhoWhatWear and Refinery 29 have declared the skinny jean is dead, and it’s time to adopt roomier (and decidedly more comfortable) flare or wide-legged pants.
A debate regarding skinny versus wide-leg pants seems to have originated on TikTok in recent months, with Gen Zers declaring Millennials old and out of touch in their skinny jeans. I’m not sure what it all means for Gen Xers like myself, but I’ve been a wide-leg girl forever and I have no plans to change my allegiance ever.
And I figure the best way to prove that wide-leg pants are superior is to go full-luxury. Dior, Valentino and Gucci can’t all be wrong. Here are seven top designer’s takes on non-skinny jeans and pants.
Gucci wool twill flare pant, $1,300
I can’t imagine a more perfect spring outfit. Pair these flares with a floral blazer, oversized bag and metallic sandals and you’re ready for your vaccination appointment.
