Seven London hospital trusts were today revealed to have been supplied pre-packed sandwiches by the firm at the centre of the NHS listeria outbreak.
Five inpatients in the North and Midlands have died and four others in the South have been taken ill, apparently after being poisoned by sandwiches and salads from the Good Food Chain.
Public Health England has named 43 NHS trusts where potentially contaminated sandwiches may have been eaten.
The London trusts are: Imperial College Healthcare, King’s College hospitals, Chelsea and Westminster, Homerton, Kingston, Lewisham and Greenwich, and Royal Brompton and Harefield.
The sandwiches and salads were withdrawn on May 25 but more cases could emerge as listeria has a 70-day incubation period.
