Seven little wonders of the musical world

Seven talented young pianists from the Piano Academy of Bangkok will be performing with Pro Musica during the "Budding Artists Concert" at Siam Society, Asok Road, on Oct 31 at 7pm.

Held as part of the "Pro Music Concert Series", the evening is an opportunity for the seven little wonders to delight the audience with an eclectic mix of music from the 17th-20th centuries. The repertoire will feature sonatas for solo keyboard by Domenico Scarlatti, Rage Over A Lost Penny by Beethoven, and Chopin's Ballade In G Minor and Scherzo Nos.1 and 3.

The pianists, ranging from seven to 14 years old, have been awarded top prizes in leading national and international piano competitions around the world. They are currently students under the tutelage of Dr Pornphan Banternghansa and Dr Christopher Janwong McKiggan.

They include Ariya "Jija" Laothitipong, who won first place in the prestigious 5th International Franz Liszt Music Competition; Trinity Jantarach, who was awarded first prize at the 19th Osaka International Music Competition; Puna Anantaprakorn, who earned the top prize from the Kawai Music Competition; and Weetiwat "Bingo" Siriwattanakorn, who won first prize at the 2nd International Singapore Piano Competition.

The other three are Pasit "Guy" Wattanalekhawong, who now has 14 medals under his belt, including the top medal in the instrumentalist category from the World Championships of Performing Arts 2018 in Los Angeles; Vichamai "Mighty" Nukulvutthiopas, who recently won first prize at the 20th Hong Kong-Asia Open Piano Competition, and Phatsacha "Baiplu" Leowattana, the grand-prize winner from the Young Artist Music Contest at the College of Music, Mahidol University, this year.
