PUNE: The crime branch of the Pimpri Chinchwad police on Tuesday claimed to have detected the murder of an unknown man, whose body was found in an unused room at Chandkhede village in Maval on January 19.
Police probe revealed that the victim, Sachin Pawar (29), of Uruli Devachi was bludgeoned to death by a gang of six men for stalking a woman relative of one of them. “We have also arrested the woman,” inspector Ramdas Ingawale of the Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch said.
Ingawale said the police did not have any clues to ascertain the identity of the victim. “While checking the missing person’s complaints in Pimpri Chinchwad and Pune, we found that the description of the victim was matching with a missing person’s complaint registered with the Loni Kalbhor police,” Ingawale said.
He said while taking information, the police found that the victim was allegedly stalking a married woman.
“We took the woman and her husband into custody for questioning. The woman admitted that she had informed her brother-in-law about the stalking by the victim, following which they hatched a plot to eliminate him,” Ingawale said.
He said on January 18, the woman called the victim to Mhalunge.
The suspects then forced him into a car and reached near Chandkhede village. “They then bludgeoned him to death and dumped the body,” Ingawale said.
