A number of guns were seized in an evening raid in West Dublin yesterday as part of a crackdown on organised crime in the capital.
Seven firearms were taken by specialist Gardai in an intelligence-led operation.
No arrests were made at the scene, and the guns have been passed on to the Garda National Technical Bureau for a technical examination.
"The undertaking of this operation leading to the discovery of a significant quantity of firearms reflects the Garda Síochána's unrelenting efforts in tackling serious and organised crime and our determination to keep people safe from those who would use firearms to endanger life," said Assistant Commissioner John O’Driscoll.
Gardai said in a statement: "In the course of ongoing investigations being undertaken by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) involving the targeting of persons suspected to be associated with serious organised criminal activity, a search was undertaken at a location in West Dublin, on the evening of Wednesday, 1 July 2020.
"The search resulted in the discovery and seizure of seven (7) firearms.
"The firearms have been conveyed to the Garda National Technical Bureau (GNTB), where they will subject of technical examination.
"No arrests were made during this phase of the investigation."
