Seven-figure loan backs hotel revamp and industrial hazard project

The Park Hotel in Kilmarnock is getting a revamp with a new outdoor bar and restaurant and two function suites with help from bank finance of more than £1 million.

Ayrshire businessman Billy Bowie secured funding from HSBC UK to support the growth of his hotel beside Rugby Park football stadium in a move that will create 20 jobs.

The seven-figure sum will also support a Billy Bowie Special Projects venture to serve the construction, utilities and petrochemicals industries with six specialised vacuum tankers that remove hazardous dry materials such as dust from sites. The business will create 12 jobs.

Bowie said: “Both the hotel and our special projects businesses have been growing in response to increasing demand, and I’m looking forward to adding to creating new jobs for the local community.

"HSBC UK bought into our growth plans and the bank’s support and advice has been instrumental to allowing both businesses to grow sustainably.”

Grant Bett, relationship director for HSBC UK, said: “Billy is a highly regarded and successful businessman and so we were delighted to support his plans for expansion. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this will have on the community with the creation of new jobs.”

Bowie is a director at Kilmarnock FC and owner of Billy Bowie Special Projects Ltd, one of Ayrshire’s largest companies.
