The experts at Beko have helpfully provided seven cleaning hacks to make laundry day a little bit easier:
1. Avoid bad smells by removing excess moisture

Mould and mildew can easily build up in washing machines, which results in a nasty smell. To avoid this from happening, clean your detergent drawer at least once per week to remove any excess detergent.
Other tips include leaving the door open after each use to allow air into the drum, and removing excess moisture from the door, and seal with a clean cloth after each wash.
2. Use vinegar on sweat stains

If you have sweat stains on white clothing which you’re wanting to get rid of, rub a little white vinegar on the patches before popping them into the machine. This is a simple but effective stain remover (It’s worth noting that you should check the garment labels before trialing this).
3. Freeze before washing

When washing clothing made of fluffy fabrics (think cotton, wool, linen, and other natural, soft fibres), pop them in the freezer for a couple of hours before putting them into the machine to help reduce bobbling (please check garment label instructions before trialing this)
4. Do a dye test

Rather than worrying whether clothing colours will bleed or not, why not try the dye test? To do this, dampen a small area of the material and press a white tissue or clean cloth onto it. If any colour transfers, it’s a good idea to wash it separately from your other clothes.
5. Wash tights and socks in an old pillowcase or mesh bag

Put your tights and trainer socks into a mesh bag or an old pillowcase. This stops tights from snagging, and small socks from getting washed away at the end of the cycle.
6. Do your zippers up

If you’re washing items such as jeans and jackets with zips, make sure you do them up properly before washing so they don’t snag other clothes.
7. Check your load with the hand trick

Overloading the drum will affect the machine’s performance and reduce its life. You should be able to fit your whole hand in comfortably in the top of the drum once it’s full. If you can’t, then consider removing some items.
