Seven cars crash on busy Scots road in double multi-vehicle smash drama

Seven cars crashed within minutes of each other on a busy Renfrewshire road leaving one man in hospital.

Emergency services were tasked to deal with the two separate multi-vehicle collisions at around 6.55am on Monday, April 12.

Police were called to the scene on the A737 between Linwood and Johnstone following the first crash which involved three vehicles.

Just minutes later, a second smash occurred involving four motors.

Thankfully, no one was seriously injured however one man has been taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital as a precaution.

Traffic Scotland reported that queues quickly began to form in the surrounding area with motorists being urged to find an alternative route.

The road was cleared and reopened at around 9am.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “We were called around 6.55 am this morning, Monday 12 April, to two road crashes which happened near each other on the A737 (Eastbound) close to the Linwood roundabout.

“The first crash involved three vehicles and the second four. No one was injured, however, one man has been taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital as a precaution.

“The road has now opened. No further police action.”
