Actor Robert De Niro has made a surprise announcement on Canadian TV, revealing he has just welcomed his seventh child.
De Niro, 79, has six other children between his two ex-wives and a former girlfriend.
The Intern star was being interviewed on ET Canada for his upcoming film About My Father on Tuesday (local time) when he revealed the family news. Interviewer Britnee Blair mentioned his six children, prompting a correction from the new dad.
“Seven, actually,” De Niro said.
“I just had a baby.”
De Niro gave no further details about the baby, including whether it was a boy or a girl or who the newborn’s mother is.
However, Page Six reports he was seen out and about last month with current girlfriend, Tiffany Chen, who was sporting a baby bump.
She is a New York martial arts instructor who was first linked to De Niro in 2021, when the couple celebrated his his 78th birthday together in France.
De Niro and Ms Chen worked together on The Intern in 2015.
The newborn is 51 years younger than De Niro’s oldest child, Drena De Niro, who he shares with ex-wife Diahnne Abbott.
The star also has 46-year-old Raphael with Ms Abbott, and two more children – Elliot, 25, and Helen, 11 – with ex-wife, Grace Hightower. He has 27-year-old twin sons Aaron and Julian, 27, with former girlfriend, Toukie Smith.
“You know, my kids disagree with me at times, and they’re respectful. My daughter, she’s 11, she gives me grief sometimes and I argue with her. I adore her, but, you know,” he told Blair.
“My youngest now, that’ll be more to come. But, that’s what it is.”
