Israeli settlers' leaders have launched a campaign against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, urging him to annex settlements in the West Bank in case US President Donald Trump lost the elections.
According to the Channel Seven website, settlers' leaders warned that the opportunity to annex is losing its chances as time passes by, urging Netanyahu to introduce a law granting legitimacy to a part of the settlements until Jan. 21.
The loss of Trump means that the US Democratic presidential candidate former Vice President Joe Biden would implement his electoral vows to halt the construction of settlements, to cease talks on annexation, and work on the two-state solution.
As the US elections approaches, concerns are mounting among the right-wing circles in Israel and settlers in the West Bank, fearing Trump's loss in the elections.
Settlers' leaders in Hebron held a special prayer rally urging divine intervention to ensure victory for Trump in Tuesday’s general election. Marc Zell, the head of Republicans Overseas Israel, who is also a settler, participated in the prayer group.
Har Hevron Regional Council Head Yohai Damari said that the prayer stems first and foremost from gratitude to Trump for his efforts on behalf of the Land of Israel.
“This week, the US elections, which will greatly affect the future of the State of Israel, will be held. We must thank President Trump for the four good years and support for the State of Israel, the Land of Israel, and advances in Jewish settlement,” he stated, expressing concern over the polls' result.
In a related context, Israel Hayom newspaper interviewed a group of fortunetellers and palm-readers to listen to their predictions regarding the US elections.
Remarkably, the newspaper is funded by American billionaire Sheldon Adelson, who is the biggest political donor to Trump campaigns.
