Seth Rogen has “corrected” comments he made about Emma Watson in a recent interview.

The actor addressed the rumour that the actor, who played Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series, stormed off the set of 2013 apocalypse comedy This Is the End while filming a cameo appearance.

During production, a Tumblr user who claimed to be an extra on the film alleged that Watson had walked off the set due to her discomfort over a scene that takes place towards the end of the movie.

The scene featured Danny McBride embracing cannibalism, and incorporated a gimp mask-wearing Channing Tatum – playing himself – as his prisoner on a leash.

Asked about this in the interview, Rogen said: “I mean, I don’t look back on that and think, ‘How dare she do that?’ You know? I think sometimes when you read something, when it comes to life it doesn’t seem to be what you thought it was.”

However, Rogen has now retracted his remarks, calling the incident a “false narrative”.

“A recent interview I gave… misrepresents what actually happened,” he wrote in a statement. “Emma Watson did not ‘storm off the set’ and it’s s***ty that the perception is that she did.”

Rogen acknowledged that Watson voiced her concerns that the scene had changed “drastically” from what had originally been planned, and that they came to an agreement that she didn’t have to do the scene.

“It was overall a s***ty situation and it must have been hard for her to say something and I’m very happy and impressed that she did,” he added. “I was thrilled for the opportunity to work with her and would be thrilled to get that opportunity again.”

He concluded: “I am very sorry and disappointed it happened, and I wish I had done more to prevent it.”

This is the End can be watched in the UK on Netflix, Sky Go and Now.
