LUCKNOW: With UP staring at a 46% shortfall in monsoon rain as of September 7, 2022, CM Yogi Adityanath has directed that 75 teams should be set up, one to review each district for the impact of monsoon deficiency on crops and irrigation. District magistrates have been asked to submit their reports to him within a week.
Yogi said monsoon deficiency has impacted the sowing of the kharif crop. To assess the loss and understand the impact of the deficiency on agriculture, he has said one team should be constituted for every district. This will have as members the chief revenue officer, DM and officers from the departments of agriculture, horticulture and sugarcane. They will be required to survey their allocated districts and submit a report to the CMO by September 14. The government will send a consolidated report to the Centre by September 15-16.
Yogi has said no delay in this work will be tolerated and the DM will be made answerable if there are any lapses.
An official said efforts were being made to supply water through canals and tubewells to the affected areas, because of which the impact of the deficient monsoon has not been felt acutely.
