SES volunteers scour streets in Canberra's north after man hospitalised following shooting

SES volunteers search the streets of Dunlop following a shooting on Saturday night.

A man has been arrested following a shooting in Canberra's north on Saturday night, which left another man in hospital.

Police were called to Percy Begg Circuit in Dunlop about 9:00pm, after reports a man had been shot through the door of his home.

On arrival, they found a man with shotgun injuries, who was taken to hospital by ambulance.

At 1:00am today, a 32-year-old man was arrested at his home in the neighbouring suburb of Charnwood.

Police are still searching for two other people wanted for questioning over the shooting, including a man, and a woman who was involved in an earlier disturbance in the street that evening.

It is believed they ran from the scene of the shooting into nearby De Mole Street.

Arrested man to appear in court

Alarmed residents took to social media after the incident, reporting a heavy police presence in the suburb overnight.

"So far, six police and three ambos have gone down Percy Begg Street in Dunlop. Police are also searching the area on foot," one commenter said.

"There was a huge bang then the police and ambulance are everywhere in Dunlop within ten minutes," said another.

This morning, SES volunteers were scouring the surrounding streets, as part of a search led by police — although it was unclear what they were looking for.

At 12:00pm, the search was ongoing.

An ACT Policing spokesperson said the arrested man would face multiple charges over the incident in the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday.

Anyone with information or CCTV footage of the area between 8:00pm and 9:00pm on Saturday is urged to contact Crime Stoppers, quoting reference number P1840738.
