A serving Metropolitan Police special constable has been charged with sexually assaulting a child.

Paul Uworibhor, 58, a special constable attached to the North Area Basic Command Unit, was charged by postal requisition on October 31 with sexually assaulting a girl aged under 13, the Met revealed on Thursday.

He is due to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Friday, November 29.

Uworibhor was arrested in October 2021, said the Met police, and has been suspended from his job since then.

The assault was reported to have happened in 2010, which was before he was employed by the Met.

The Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed, said the force.
