Service truck hits plane at Glasgow Airport causing delay

A busy plane at a Scottish airport was hit by a service truck triggering safety fears.

The British Airways BA1483 11.50 am Glasgow to Heathrow flight on Wednesday was struck by the vehicle putting a dent in the fuselage, according to passengers.

Engineers were then scrambled to check the aircraft causing disruption for travellers.

A passenger said: “The captain came on to announce to the waiting passengers before boarding that a service vehicle had bumped into the fuselage of the aircraft and put a dent in it.

“Engineers came and assessed it and we were told that the flight was cancelled. We got away eventually at about 3.30pm. It definitely wasn’t the best start to the trip.”

A spokesman for Glasgow Airport said: “A minor incident involving a BA aircraft was reported. The airport team attended, as is standard procedure, and following an inspection it was stood down.

“This resulted in a delay to the 11.50am flight to Heathrow.”
