Service celebrates life of Caleb Schwab, who died on Kansas water slide

OLATHE, Kan. _ A steady stream of mourners flowed into the Life Mission Church in Olathe on Friday for the memorial service for 10-year-old Caleb Thomas Schwab, who died Sunday while riding the world's tallest water slide at the Schlitterbahn water park in Kansas City, Kan.

Families, many with children Caleb's age, filled the church. School buses dropped off crowds.

Between the solemn dress of most of the mourners arose occasional bursts of color from the younger children, friends and teammates of Caleb from his various sports teams.

The sky darkened and a breeze picked up just as the memorial was about to proceed.

A live stream of Caleb's memorial was being broadcast on the church's website showing a photo montage of Caleb with his three brothers and many friends. Pictures revealed an ebullient boy, with a broad smile, bounding out of a pickup truck with this baseball buddies on the Kansas City Mudcats.

Baby shots, Christmas shots, photos of him with his family on all manner of holidays, were backed by soaring Christian rock music.
