A seriously injured man desperately knocked on the door of a flat for help following a 'targeted' attack. The victim, a 38-year-old male, arrived at an apartment on Maple Avenue, Maplewood, at around midday on January 28.
Upon answering the door, he told the occupant he had been assaulted. Police and paramedics were called out to the scene and the man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains.
An investigation was launched by Cheshire Police, who believe at this time that the attack was targeted. Police are now appealing for witnesses and any video footage of the incident, which took place in the Goathland Way area.
Two men, aged 36 and 43, were arrested on suspicion of assault. They have both since been released pending further enquiries into the incident.
Detective Constable Jas Kaur, of Macclesfield CID said: “This investigation is in its early stages and we’re doing all we can to establish exactly what has taken place. Initial enquiries suggest that this was a targeted incident, and the victim was in the Goathland Way area when the assault took place.
“Therefore, as part of our investigation we’re keen to hear from anyone who was in the Goathland Way or Maple Avenue area at the time of the incident and believes they may have seen anything suspicious."
