Serious two vehicle crash closes road in Pontypool

A person has been taken to hospital after a crash in Pontypool.

Emergency services were called to Penywain Road in Wainfelin on Monday night after reports of a two-vehicle crash.

A spokeswoman for Wales Ambulance Service said one person was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital after being called at 7.48pm. 

The road remains closed.

Eyewitnesses said there was also a helicopter on the scene.

A statement from Gwent Police said: "Emergency services are currently dealing with a Road Traffic Collision in Pontypool. Penywain Road Wainfelin is currently closed. Apologies for any inconvenience."
