Serious road crash on A9 as emergency crews seal off scene

A 'serious road crash' in the Highlands has sparked a huge emergency response.

Police were called to the A9, near Moy, south of Inverness, on Saturday.

The alarm was raised at around 4.45pm.

At around 5.15pm Highland and Islands Police Division released a statement on the smash.

Motorists were warned that the road had been closed in both directions.

Officers had no further information on the circumstances surrounding the crash or the number of vehicles involved.

There are no reports of injuries at this stage.

Traffic Scotland announced just before 6pm that the A9 remained closed in both directions near Moy due to the incident.

There was no information on traffic diversions.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Emergency services are dealing with a serious road crash on the A9 south of Inverness.

"Police were called at around 4:45pm this afternoon .

"The road is currently closed in both directions/

"We have no further information at this time, and will provide an update when we can."
